I’d like to get an mp3 player other than ipod because my dad hates apple. I’d like one where I can record things like voice and radio and I’d like to be able put songs on and off it without difficulty via the computer. Any suggestions?

I have a Samsung YP-U3:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8570726&type=product&id=1188562603591
Its convenient, light, durable. It has lasted me about 2 years. Not to mention price. It’s only 60 dollars for 2 gig memory( i believe thats 500 songs). It has great sound quality. Also it is very efficient, it supports MP3, OGG, WMA and WMA DRM music formats so you wont have difficulty adding songs. It has voice recording, FM radio and also unlike typical Mp3 players, there is a touch board. Basically, you touch the signs on the player and that is how you change from song to song. if you are not satisfied with a green one, there is also a baby blue one and a pink one.

I have a 4 GB Sony Walkman. It’s very easy to use, you can watch videos on it (but I haven’t figured out how to put the videos on it), pictures, listen to the radio, has radio presents, and it lets you make folders for your music (you don’t need to make folders cause it will organize your music for you but if you want to the option’s there). However it can’t record voice nor can it record radio.
It comes with some type of converter program but it doesn’t work that great. I have WMA and MP3 files on mine. I got it for Christmas and I love it! It cost about $120 or something like that.

I have several MP3 players, including an iPod, which is not my favorite one.
There are different categories. One is the big ‘jukebox’ with like 40 gigabytes of memory, that you can put all your music collection on all at once. These usually have little hard drives in them. The other big category is the smaller device – 1 to 8 gigabytes, that work from flash memory. They are smaller, have no moving parts and use less energy.
Most of them (not Apple), you plug them into your computer via a USB port and they look like a hard drive, and you just move your files onto them as you would between one drive and another. Couldn’t be easier. Apple makes you use their own software.
I would stick with known brands–Creative, Rio, IRiver, Sansa, etc. There are a lot of ‘nameless’ Chinese players now that I have heard bad things about.
Check out EBay. There are many many MP3 players there, both used and new, of every type imaginable.
I have a Sansa that I really like. It’s made by Sandisk, the company that makes flash memory. It uses one AAA battery and gets about 15 hrs, and I carry a spare rechargable in my pocket. It’s about the size of a book of matches! It is 2 gb, which is big enough for several days of listening. I listen to audiobooks as well as music. But there are other brands just as good.

Get a Creative Zen, You can listen to FM radio on it, it has a built in microphone, so that you can record live, it works sith Rhapsody and also regular mp3s, it is pretty durable. If it freezes up on you, you can put a paperclip into a little hole on the bottom of it, and it will reset itself.

best mp3 player I’ve ever had! Creative should pay me for all of the word-of-mouth advertising they get from me.
