I have a couple movies that I want to play on something other than my computer. Is there a way to play them on a DVD player?
Get Nero…it converts the files for you and you can even create things like a dvd menu etc. I use it for all my avi’s and mpeg’s and works like a charm

Greetings,
Here are a few options I am aware of based on personal experience
Option 1 is to get video conversion software and convert the .avi files into DVD format. I have used Xilisoft Video Converter 3 and Blaze Media Pro and both have worked. I’m not sure if it is my computer or the software but the quality does not seem to come out as DVD quality. Also the voices are not synced well with mouths.
Option 2 is to get a DVD player that supports Divx formats. It is my understanding that .avi equates to Divx. I have one that is Divx compatible and plays .avi movies burned onto DVDRs. I can get 4 or 5 full movies onto 1 DVD which is pretty nice. My player (Philips) was relatively cheap about 1.5 years ago (around $40). It has not been the most reliable brand for me but it still works.
There may be other ways to accomplish your goal but these are the ones I’ve tried. I think the Divx player will give you the best quality video over the conversion software based on my personal experience.
Best of Luck,
Stosh
