I have an iPod Nano (4th gen) and I recently downloaded my first movie onto it from iTunes. However, I was wondering if there’s any way to take some of the DVDs I already own and put them onto my iPod rather than having to buy them all over again from iTunes. Also, are there any websites with free/cheap movies that I could download for my iPod as well?

   Yes. iPod support MP4,H264 format.So you just need a converter to help.I personally use Cucusoft iPod Video Converter Suite.It helps me convert both DVD media and video file media to iPod video/iPod movie easily.It works well for me, you can give it a try.

   Yes you can, you need a DVD to iPod Converter software.

   I use this DVD to iPod Converter.

   Step 1: Convert DVD to MP4 or H.264 supported by iPod.
   Step 2: Import the converted movie to iTunes.
   Step 3: Connect your iPod to your computer, sync the movie to your iPod.

   You just need to convert your DVD movie or video to mp4 video, and then you can drag the mp4 video into your iTunes library. Plug in your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect the iPod automatically, then click iTunes menu "File -> Sync iPod", that’s all.    Easy. Just locate the movie file you have on your computer. Look and see what the file extension is and type in google search.
   Example: if it is a Windows Movie file type – .wmv to .mp4 software free
   Example: if it is a Quiktime Movie File type – .mov to .mp4 software free
   mp4 is file extension that iPod/iTunes recognizes for movies
